Universal Studios Hollywood invited us last Friday to check out the first night of Halloween Horror Nights.
There are 7 New Mazes for this year’s Horror Nights: Stranger Things, Halloween 4, Trick r Treat, Universal Monsters, BlumHouse, The First Purge, and Poltergeist.
4 Scare Zone: Hell’s Harvest, Trick r Treat, Monster Masquerade and Toxxic Tunnel.
Terror Tram featuring Hollywood Harry’s and one Live show: Jabbawockeez.
Here’s our maze rankings for this year’s Horror Nights:
1. Universal Monsters
2. Poltergeist
3. Stranger Things
4. Halloween
5. Trick r Treat
6. Blumhouse
7. The FirstPurge.
8. Terror Tram
Here’s a quick recap of our trip.
Sine we have a frequent fear passes for Horror Nights, we decided to get to the park at 5PM to take advantage of the Early Entry. By doing that, we got an extra 2 hour head start on the mazes before checking in for the Media event at 7PM.
It was Crazy to see that the event was sold out for the day.
After getting our wristbands, we headed down to the lower lot hoping to do Stranger Things first. The queue at 5:30PM had a 60 minute wait, so we opted to do it later on in the night. Instead we headed over to do Trick R Treat as our first maze of the night.
Here’s what the park map looks like this season.
This is what the facade looks like for all 6 mazes: Poltergeist, Trick r Treat, Purge, Blumhouse, Universal Monsters & Halloween 4. Stranger Things has no facade. Our favorite exterior goes to the Poltergeist house.
We are now in the backlot
Stranger Things was an hour wait at 5:30PM, so we decided to do Trick r Treat. Waited only 5 minutes.
After Trick r Treat, we headed to the back lot.
A look at the menu.
A nice lush green area to sit and eat your purchased meal.
Blumhouse time!
The First Purge
We got a neat pocket sized first aid kit for mentioning tonight’s password at the First Purge maze. Be sure to follow @HorrorNights for password to give to the Purge Psychologist for your prize.
First aid kit.
Poltergeist! Love this facade.
Very cool.
Universal Monsters. Wow! this maze was so good! So much detail in this maze.
We completed 5 mazes before 7:30PM just by doing the Early Entry. We then exited the park and picked our media credentials so we can start filming the mazes for you guys. With our media passes, it allows us to skip the line at each of the attraction.
Halloween 4. Pretty fun maze.
Current wait times as of 9:14PM. Pretty Busy!
Wow! Look at those crowds
Stranger Things
Insane! The wait time for Stranger Things was almost 3 hours long as of 8PM.
Creepy! Terror Tram featuring Hollywood Harry was not good.
The problem with this terror tram is that you have to wait in a 45 mins line just to wait in more lines after walking pass Bate Motel and then wait in some more additional lines to get back on the tram to take you back to the park.
Jabbawockeez was a great show! Just wish one day they will bring back Bill & Ted’s Show.
That’s a Wrap!
Thanks for having us, Universal. We had a scary good time!
